History

Originating in 1929 and run out of a home office by Percy R. Locke, the business first became known as P.R. Locke Insurance Agency. In 1954 the business was moved downtown to its current location on Talbot Street just as John Locke the son of Percy joined the business. After John joined the business the firm became known as P.R. and John Locke Insurance. In 1978 John Locke merged with Don Mortin from the Mortin agency and the business became known as Mortin and Locke Insurance Brokers. In 1987 David Locke, the son of John joined the business and in 1999 Tom Hughes, David’s brother-in-law joined as Don Mortin retired. The name was changed after Mortin’s retirement to what it is now known – Locke Insurance Brokers.
